With Empathy,
We Rise Together.
Beatcollective is dance music non profit that aims to bring empathy back to the music industry. By providing an environment in which workers and artists are paid a fairly, have flexibility in their schedules, and are treated with respect, Beatcollective aims to spread awareness and help set the standard for dance music industry practices.
A personal note from the founder, David Saffran:
What is the purpose of life? I've asked myself this question repeatedly since my mother passed away from cancer at 65. To me, the answer is simple: leave the world better than you found it. We live in a world where kindness, empathy, and compassion are often seen as weaknesses. We celebrate billionaires who prioritize profits over people, exploit each other based on social status, and kill each other in senseless wars driven by ego.
Looking at the world today, I’m not proud to be part of humanity. We need to ask ourselves hard questions. Mainly, is this the world we want to live in?
I’m starting Beatcollective to set an example for the music industry and beyond. By treating each other with kindness and respect, we can help humanity thrive again. I want this collective to be a beacon of hope, showing that we’re all on the same team. We are humanity. We are one.
Music Industry Experience
I fell in love with dance music at VELD Music Festival in 2012, instantly hooked on the industry and its culture. Soon after, my brother and I launched a DJ business in Asheville, NC. We started small, spinning at local bars, but hustling with club promoters led us to sold out shows for over 3,000 people at iconic venues like the Orange Peel on New Year’s Eve.
Later, we moved to NYC for school and kept networking with promoters. That hustle landed us gigs at Webster Hall, Space Ibiza NYC, and Pacha NYC, opening for heavyweights like Solomun, Arty, and Blau. Around this time, I helped co found Immersed Recordings, now a powerhouse in melodic progressive house. Working at Immersed opened my eyes to the business side of music and shaped my vision for Beatcollective. Their environment collaborative, artist focused set the standard for what I want the industry to be. I also dove into music production, releasing three tracks with the label.
With this experience, I’m driven to make a positive mark on the music industry and build a better future for humanity through Beatcollective.
